Mandatory Documentation for Shipping in India:
To ensure a smooth delivery process across India, it’s important to submit the right documents along with your shipment. For most parcels, especially commercial shipments, compliance with GST regulations and E-Way Bill requirements is essential.
Here’s what you may need to include:
GST Invoice: For any business-related or taxable shipment
E-Way Bill: Mandatory for goods exceeding ₹50,000 in value (as per government rules)
Transporter ID: Required when goods are in transit using a third-party courier

Banned and Restricted Items – What You Cannot Send
For safety, security, and legal compliance, there are certain items that are strictly prohibited from being shipped via courier in India. Sending any of these may result in legal action or confiscation by authorities.
Do not send:
Flammable items like gasoline, fireworks, or matchsticks
Hazardous chemicals, acids, or toxic substances
Currency, precious metals, or valuable stones
Alcohol, tobacco, or narcotic substances
Arms, ammunition, or sharp weapons
Live animals or perishable food without proper packaging and approval

Volumetric Weight – Know How Your Parcel is Charged
In India, courier pricing isn’t just based on the physical weight of your parcel. If your package takes up more space than its actual weight justifies, it’s charged based on what’s called volumetric weight. This is standard practice across the logistics industry, including Trackon Courier.
How to Calculate Volumetric Weight
Volumetric weight =
Length (cm) × Breadth (cm) × Height (cm) ÷ 5000 (for domestic air & surface shipments)
For international shipments, the divisor is 6000
Note: If the volumetric weight is greater than the actual weight, you’ll be billed according to the volumetric weight.
Why This Matters
For example:
If a soft toy weighing only 1 kg occupies a large box (say 50 × 40 × 30 cm), its volumetric weight would be:
(50×40×30) ÷ 5000 = 12 kg, and you’ll be charged for 12 kg.
